Stroke Tiredness
I was asked a question about stroke tiredness by a reader of my book, "I had a stroke, didn't like it so I got rid of it". I had recently help her with a problem with her curled toes. This is my reply to asking about tiredness after her stroke; I'm glad the tips I gave you about stretching your toes was helpful. Keep it up! Babies play with their toes so why shouldn't we. Think up new ways to stretch them and do it often and the brain will work of rewires the connections. During the year after my stroke and going back to work I was really tired and had nausea every day. I beat it back with positive thoughts. Even today I think back through the day and count accomplishments. Reminding my self what I couldn't do after my stroke....I've come along was. Two things to know about stroke....tiredness comes from your brain working harder than the person who hasn't had a stroke...like 150 to 200% harder which will wear you out so plan your day and don't over load. The other thing which most won't admit is depression. It subtle but it's very common is stroke survivors. That half hour lay down becomes 2-3 hours. Sitting around to much. Putting a lot of things off till the next day and then not doing them. If that's happening to you try doing something you put off every day....just one thing. After you get good at it, try doing two thing in a day. Do this for awhile and energy will start coming back. You will be refreshed. Recovery is what we all want but what we actually are doing is rebuilding. When we rebuild something we make changes. Some rebuild smaller and don't expect too much but some want a better and bigger rebuild like me.
Before my stroke my golf game averaged 112 strokes per game and I had fun every time on the golf course. One year after my stroke I went to Myrtle Beach with golf buddies and on my first golf course there' River Oakes' which is a tour length course I shot 135 which really is not bad at all. Last week playing at River Oaks, on the same fairways I shot my best game ever in Myrtle Beach, 95 beating my score from 9 years age by 40 strokes. I am now a better golfer than I was before my stroke!! Rebuild a better you! I did!
I don't recommend having a stroke to improve your golf game but if you've had one this may be an opportunity! Click the book cover and get the book!
